We, at Pratik Pipe & Fittings, are able to provide our customers with an entire range of 316 SS Pipes & Tubes, which is regarded as one of the most commonly used grades of stainless steel available in the world market. The austenitic stainless steel of 316-grade contains, by itself, 2-3% molybdenum. This addition gives the alloy remarkable resistance in chloride-containing environments. Hence, material grade 316 is the most widely used for applications in marine industries, offshore industries, and for use in severe chemicals with saltwater exposure.
Among the most valuable benefits of 316 stainless steel are the excellent weldability and formability it possesses. Whereas post-weld annealing is usually recommended for maximum corrosion resistance, this operation is not required if the low-carbon variant 316L is utilized. These grades exhibit exceptional strength, toughness, and resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, which make them perfect for critical applications in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and food industries.
Although initially developed for use within the paper production industry, 316 stainless steel found superior applications resistant to sulfur compounds that were employed during the process. Its great resistance to chemicals means its employment in numerous industrial applications, besides general use where such tough and long-living materials are called for.
